How he got a grip on his figures
In conversation with Hauke Gerloff, Dr. Afzali describes why he had no commercial overview and what has changed since.

“The reality was that at one point I was putting 100,000 euros of my own private money into this practice every year.”
“Essentially I always waited for my tax advisor to send me my interim financial statement (BWA). And it always came too late, one or two quarters too late. And then I would see that the result was not profitable and that my staff cost ratio was sometimes at 80 or 90 percent.”
“I was flying blind for a very long time, and with the interim financial statement I was only ever looking in the rear-view mirror.”
“When one of the physicians at our practice changed, for example, certain GP-centered care (HZV) payments stopped coming in. We had to correct something, and then the payments came again.”
