What actually changes in everyday practice

Many practices and medical care centers run their finances with MediPulse. Two practice owners tell their story, from where they started to what came of it.

An error caught before it was too late

From flying blind to a daily overview

Dr. med. Bahman AfzaliFacharzt für Allgemeinmedizin, MVZ Hausarztmedizin Bedburg

Ever since I founded my practice I have been working to keep its finances in view day to day. With MediPulse I now have all the important information at a glance for the first time, and in real time – with no waiting for the fee statement (Honorarbericht) or my tax advisor. It jumped out at me straight away, for example, that I had not received all of my GP-centered care (HZV) payments over a longer period – otherwise I would have spotted that with the annual accounts at the earliest. I now know at any moment where my practice stands.

Dr. Afzali in his own words

“Is this staff cost ratio all right? Is this margin all right? Nobody else asks those questions.” In a minute and a half he describes how he pulled the data together from different sources, became an Excel expert, and still only reacted once the account was in the red. The recording is in German.

How he got a grip on his figures

In conversation with Hauke Gerloff, Dr. Afzali describes why he had no commercial overview and what has changed since.

Before: flying blind

The reality was that at one point I was putting 100,000 euros of my own private money into this practice every year.
Essentially I always waited for my tax advisor to send me my interim financial statement (BWA). And it always came too late, one or two quarters too late. And then I would see that the result was not profitable and that my staff cost ratio was sometimes at 80 or 90 percent.
I was flying blind for a very long time, and with the interim financial statement I was only ever looking in the rear-view mirror.
When one of the physicians at our practice changed, for example, certain GP-centered care (HZV) payments stopped coming in. We had to correct something, and then the payments came again.

Today with MediPulse

I use MediPulse to have all of my account movements analyzed automatically. And then I see it straight away: how high are my staff costs right now, in relation to current income?
MediPulse also pulls the billing data live out of the practice management system and can set it against what is happening on the account.
I can use what I see in MediPulse to cross-check my tax advisor's interim financial statement and see whether it is plausible. So for me MediPulse pays off quite well.
That is to say, I compare myself with the other physicians who use MediPulse from a situation similar to mine, with the same motivation to get out of it.

These statements were made in German and have been translated for this page. Dr. Afzali approved the German wording. Original episode:ÄrzteTag-Podcast der Ärzte Zeitung

Why practices trust us

Figures you can rely on, prepared so you can follow them

Anyone basing commercial decisions on figures has to be able to rely on them. That is why we do not work with estimates, but read the data straight out of the systems where it is created. And for every metric we show where it comes from, so you can check it against your own records.

  • A direct connection to your practice management system (PVS/AIS) and bank accounts

MediPulse reads billing data and account movements automatically, matches them to each other and categorizes them. Nobody has to export files, maintain spreadsheets or retype figures.

  • Servers in Germany, GDPR-compliant and encrypted

Sensitive data sits with certified providers in Germany and is protected with AES-256. The infrastructure meets ISO 27001 and the BSI C5 framework, and we provide the data processing agreement.

  • Metrics with recommended actions, not raw data

You see not only your staff cost ratio, but also how it compares with similar practices. And for every figure you can trace which transactions it comes from.

See for yourself what MediPulse can do.

Try MediPulse with no obligation and see how data and automation give you your time back.
