For solo practices

Practice controlling for your solo practice. Without a controlling team.

Revenue, costs and liquidity of your medical practice in view daily – without waiting for the KV report or your tax advisor, and without a controlling team of your own.

Context

Why the solo practice needs controlling the most – and has it the least

In a solo practice, the owner's income sits in the profit, not in the costs. What remains at the end depends on a few figures: the fee per case, the share of private patients, staff costs and the question of when the advance payments and the final settlement from the statutory health insurance association (KV) actually arrive. Each of these moves during the year – and usually only becomes visible in the management report, weeks after quarter end.

There is no controlling team, and the practice management system (PVS) shows services but no costs and no bank transactions. For a solo practice, practice controlling therefore does not mean more analysis but the right one: a few key figures, automatically from PVS and bank account, with a comparison that draws on practices of similar specialty and size – not medical care centers or practice chains.

That is exactly what MediPulse does: connected to your existing PVS in about ten minutes, without IT of your own, with data stored encrypted in German data centers. More than 300 practices work with it.

What MediPulse analyzes for your solo practice

Four analyses that together answer how your practice is doing financially.

Income and expenses

How the quarter is going

Income and expenses sit side by side per quarter, with the previous year behind them. You see the direction while the quarter is still running – not once the management report arrives.

  • Income and expenses per quarter
  • Year-on-year comparison without recalculating
  • Cost ratios instead of the account balance
  • Without waiting for your tax advisor

Management

Three questions the management report answers too late

Where the solo practice's finances hinge – and what MediPulse does about it.

Where do we stand right now?

The hurdle

The management report arrives weeks after quarter end and shows the result, not the path to it. Until then, you steer by account balance.

With MediPulse

Revenue, costs and liquidity daily, with year-on-year comparison – the interim question to your tax advisor becomes unnecessary.

Can we afford that hire?

The hurdle

An additional medical assistant (MFA) or a new device is a fixed-cost decision – and the data for it is scattered across PVS, bank statement and tax office.

With MediPulse

Staff costs, revenue and liquidity trend in one view, so the decision rests on figures instead of gut feeling.

Are we billing everything we deliver?

The hurdle

Forgotten or incorrectly applied billing codes do not stand out in the total of the fee statement – and the KV does not point them out.

With MediPulse

The billing-code check compares your billing with the service profile of your specialty and shows gaps per quarter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is practice controlling – and do I need it in a solo practice?

Practice controlling means tracking the practice's financial key figures continuously instead of once a year: revenue and cases per quarter, cost ratios, liquidity, fee per case. In a solo practice this is particularly effective because every deviation lands directly in the owner's profit – and nobody else is watching.

Do I need my own IT for MediPulse?

No – MediPulse comes preconfigured for your specialty and is ready in minutes, with no IT department and with guided onboarding.

Does MediPulse replace my tax advisor?

No – but the interim questions to them become unnecessary. Where do we stand right now? Can we afford that hire? You can see this in MediPulse yourself, up to date instead of after the quarter. Year-end accounts, tax returns and tax advice remain the job of your tax advisor – who gets clean figures whenever needed.

Do I have to change my billing or my practice system?

No. MediPulse connects to your existing practice management system (PVS, also called AIS) and to your bank accounts – nothing about your workflows changes.

Which key figures does MediPulse show for a solo practice?

Revenue by KV, HZV and private, cases and visits, fee per case, costs and staff costs, liquidity and year-on-year comparison – plus the benchmark against practices of your specialty and size.

Is it worth it for a small solo practice?

Especially then: you have no controlling team – MediPulse handles the analysis and shows early where things are getting tight financially.

Will I be benchmarked against large medical care centers?

No. The comparison draws on practices of similar specialty and size – a solo practice is not measured against a medical care center or a practice chain. Otherwise the figure would be worthless to you.

How quickly will I see a benefit?

Within the first few weeks – initial analyses of revenue, cases and liquidity right after your data is connected.
