For group practices

Controlling for your group practice. Revenue per practitioner.

One billing statement, several partners: MediPulse breaks down revenue and services per practitioner and gives profit distribution a basis everyone can follow.

Context

One billing statement, several partners. What that means financially.

The group practice – legally a joint practice (Berufsausübungsgemeinschaft) – bills the statutory health insurance association (KV) jointly. The fee statement names one sum for the practice, not for the individual partners. Who contributed how much is written nowhere – and that is exactly what profit distribution rests on.

As long as the figures are copied from the practice management system (PVS) into a spreadsheet by hand, the distribution remains a matter of negotiation. It only becomes traceable once revenue per practitioner, private share and services are continuously available and every partner works on the same data basis – with permissions that govern who sees what.

Not to be confused with a practice-sharing arrangement (Praxisgemeinschaft): there, only rooms, equipment and staff are shared and each practice bills for itself. MediPulse maps the group practice as one unit with several practitioners – connected to your existing PVS and the practice's bank accounts.

€232,000
median net income per practice – to be distributed among several owners in a group practice

Federal Statistical Office, medical practices 2024

130,000
physicians and psychotherapists in their own practice, rounded – partners of a group practice count among them

KBV, federal physician register, as of 2025

20%
patient overlap above which the KV audits a practice-sharing arrangement of the same specialty – this limit does not apply to the group practice

KBV and GKV-Spitzenverband, guidelines under § 106d SGB V

What MediPulse analyzes for your group practice

Four analyses that show who contributes what and where the practice is heading.

Performance side by side

Who contributed what

Revenue, visits and cases sit side by side per practitioner – the figure the joint fee statement does not provide, and the one profit distribution is built on.

  • Revenue, visits and cases per practitioner
  • KV, HZV and private shares separated
  • The basis for profit distribution
  • Roles and permissions govern who sees what

Management

Three questions that come up in every partner meeting

Where the partnership hinges financially – and what MediPulse does about it.

Who contributed what?

The hurdle

The fee statement names one sum. The split between partners is made in a spreadsheet – with debates over the attribution of every billing code.

With MediPulse

Revenue and services per practitioner, with KV, HZV and private shares separated – continuously, not just at year end.

Who sees which figures?

The hurdle

Not every partner wants full transparency, no transparency is not a solution – and the team should not see everything anyway.

With MediPulse

Roles and permissions per person: from the full view for partners to restricted views for staff.

Is the practice heading in the right direction?

The hurdle

Year-on-year comparisons and shared targets are discussed once a year, because otherwise the figures are missing.

With MediPulse

Revenue and patient development with year-on-year comparison for every meeting – the same figure for every partner.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is revenue divided fairly between the partners?

MediPulse breaks down revenue and services transparently by practitioner – including statutory (KV), GP-centered care (HZV) and private shares – as the basis for a fair, traceable profit distribution. The partners set the distribution key themselves; MediPulse supplies the figures for it.

What is the difference between a group practice and a practice-sharing arrangement?

The group practice (Berufsausübungsgemeinschaft) treats shared patients and bills jointly. The practice-sharing arrangement (Praxisgemeinschaft) shares only rooms, equipment and staff; each practice bills for itself and may only have a limited share of common patients. Our guide explains the difference and the limit.

Can every partner see the others' figures?

That is up to you, via individual roles and permissions – from full transparency among partners to restricted views per member of staff.

Do all partners work on the same data?

Yes. Everyone accesses one shared data basis – no more scattered standalone tools and contradictory analyses.

Does MediPulse help with partner meetings?

Yes. Revenue and patient development, year-on-year comparisons and shared targets provide a reliable factual basis for decisions.

Do we have to replace our existing systems?

No. MediPulse connects your practice management system (PVS, also called AIS) and your bank accounts, and adds a shared view on top.

How quickly is MediPulse set up in a group practice?

Connecting the PVS takes about ten minutes, and onboarding is guided. First analyses per practitioner are available right after the data is connected.
